Staging and Composition Study

Circles and crumples.

This project started because; 1) I saw a cloud tutorial on Instagram, and 2) I wanted to be my old self.

I thought it was a good idea to make a render with clouds in the background. It would look so dreamy, right?

Then I moved to make the garment itself. I wanted go be my old self, the one who doesn’t care about garment patterns and just make things by heart. Those were great times.

The string of gradient ruffles and manipulation on the skirt.

Then I moved on the materials. Out of ideas, I succumb to my beauty reddish-brown-cream-earthy colour pallette, as always. For variations, I did a checker deselect on the skirt and assign a different colour in a checkerboard pattern.

Then I moved to the props. First I made the rings with a cylinder. Then I tried making clouds using metaball and volumes– but I like then better as crumples! In the end I used the classic emission volume shader to make ground fog. Beautiful.

I explored many of the 3.0 features, including the amazing render timer. It cuts my time to 15 minutes! Overall, it’s amazing.
